Isamu Noguchi: Stones and Paper 1x55
Profile of Isamu Noguchi, the Japanese-Irish-American artist whose free-form coffee table is an icon of modernist design and whose paper Akari lanterns have never been more popular. The film follows Noguchi’s long life and career from its beginnings in the U.S. to his search for his father in Japan, and the international fame he later achieved there. The artist Christo, critic Robert Hughes, and I.M. Pei appear in the film stressing Noguchi’s breadth of vision and talent which, besides sculpture, encompassed gardens, fountains, furniture and stage sets.
