As American voters face an unprecedented presidential election, FRONTLINE is producing a deep and unflinching examination of the candidates in an expanded edition of its landmark series, The Choice. Drawing on extensive interviews with those who know them best, The Choice 2024 will investigate the life experiences, the decisions, and the times that forged the candidates – and shaped how they could lead the country over the next four years.

The bitter contest between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is the first election in more than a century between a current and former president. To meet this historic moment, FRONTLINE is adding a third hour to The Choice to focus on each man’s term in office. Weaving together Biden and Trump’s decades in the public eye, The Choice 2024 will tell the story of their personal and political triumphs and defeats and examine the questions today about each candidate’s fitness for the presidency.

Because the election features the two oldest serious contenders for the presidency in American history, their vice-presidential choices are likely to come under unprecedented scrutiny.
