America’s Awesome Kids is a national, multi-platform youth media initiative developed by PBS KIDS in collaboration with leading public media producers including GBH and regional stations such as West Virginia Public Broadcasting. Launching as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations, the project delivers a powerful combination of broadcast, digital, and community-based storytelling.

At its core, the initiative features a series of short-form documentary segments showcasing children (ages 8–10) from across the country. Each story highlights a child’s unique perspective—exploring their culture, community, passions, and contributions—while reinforcing themes of civic pride, diversity, and social connection.
