World's First Battlefield
In the Tollense Valley, Northern Germany, a chance find by an amateur archaeologist has led to one of the most astonishing discoveries of this century. Miraculously preserved beneath the surface, many thousands of bones, skulls, and weapons have been dated to the same historical period – 1,300 BC, during the Bronze Age. Many of these remains bear the scars of extreme violence.
This remarkable documentary follows the latest investigation on land and underwater, revealing how experts have pieced together the story of this incredible conflict, which predates any battlefield discovery yet made. They estimate that as many as 2,000 warriors fought and perhaps 400 were killed. The revelations unearthed in this film are set to reshape our understanding of ancient conflict and the evolution of war
